- Mining machinery refers to equipment used to directly extract useful minerals. It includes excavating machinery for mining metallic and non-metallic ores, coal mining machinery specifically for coal, and oil drilling and extraction machinery. From the successful design of the first pneumatic disc shearer by British engineer Walker in 1868 to the widespread application of integrated mechanized coal mining today, mining machinery has undergone tremendous technological changes.
- Mineral processing machinery, on the other hand, separates useful minerals from raw mineral materials based on differences in their physical, physicochemical, and chemical properties. According to the mineral processing flow, it is divided into crushing, grinding, screening, sorting, and dewatering machinery.
- Although prospecting machinery is mainly used in the exploration stage, its working principle and structure are similar to those of mining machinery used to extract the same type of minerals; therefore, it is broadly classified as mining machinery as well.
In addition, mining operations rely heavily on a large number of auxiliary equipment, such as cranes, conveyors, ventilators, and drainage machinery, which are the “lifeline” for the normal operation of the mine.
Ⅱ.Specialized Equipment: “Specialized Craftsmen” with Diverse Functions
Specialized equipment is designed according to its specific function in the production process and mainly includes the following categories:
- Crushing equipment : responsible for crushing raw ore to the required particle size. Based on the crushing method and structural characteristics, it can be divided into jaw crushers (commonly known as “tiger mouths”), cone crushers, roller crushers, impact crushers, etc. Crushing operations are usually classified into coarse crushing, medium crushing, and fine crushing according to the feed and discharge particle size.
- Screening equipment : vibrating screens are a typical example, including various types such as shaking screens, circular vibrating screens, resonant screens, and linear vibrating screens, used for material classification.
- Grinding equipment : cylindrical mills are the most widely used, including rod mills, ball mills, pebble mills, and ultrafine laminated autogenous mills. The ore is crushed by the impact and grinding action of the grinding media inside a rotating cylinder.
- Separation equipment : separates minerals based on their characteristics, such as centrifugal concentrators, magnetic separators (utilizing differences in mineral magnetic properties), photoelectric separators, and flotation machines (utilizing differences in the physicochemical properties of mineral particle surfaces), etc. Dewatering equipment:processes concentrates obtained from wet mineral processing, separating solids from liquids, including thickeners, filters, centrifugal dewatering machines, and dryers.
- Feeding and conveying equipment : such as disc feeders, trough feeders, plate feeders, and belt conveyors, responsible for the continuous supply and transport of materials.
Ⅲ.Construction and Operation Equipment: The “Doers” on the Mine Site
This type of equipment directly participates in the construction and daily operations of the mine:

Rock Loader : Specialized equipment used for loading ore and rock; a key machine in mine tunnel construction.Rock Drilling Rig:Equipped with a hydraulic rock drill, used to drill blast holes in rock, improving drilling efficiency and accuracy.

Down-the-Hole Drill Rig : Used for drilling operations, especially suitable for drilling blast holes in medium-hard and harder rock conditions. It can be divided into various types according to power source, such as pneumatic, internal combustion, hydraulic, and electric.
